These photographs knocked me off my feet. I went and checked this show out as they were setting up at Paul Kopeikin Gallery in LA last week. Blew my mind. The gallery has shown some favorites like chris jordan. As some of you know i am not a huge fan of Photography in the art. but when i do like something i tend to love it. this is a prime example. any how go and look at some more baby portraits. there amazing. www.paulkopeikingallery.com

Matt Shlian
This guy is a good friend of mine who is graduating from Cranbrook this year. Just went and checked out the Grad Show at cranbrook and it was quite fun. Lots of good stuff this year. Matt focuses on paper engineering for his 3d work and on chance for his drawings using computer translation as a source. Very cool stuff and its always a treat to go and see what he s working on. If you want to see more of matts work check out www.mattshlian.com and for more pics of the grad opening and seeing what is happening at cranbrook go and check out one of my favorite blogs that keeps tabs on the detroit art scene detroitarts.blogspot.com/2006/04/cranbrook-gradyou-gotta-...

Mel Kadel
Another great find in the LA area. Lab 101 in Culver City was and is a definite recommendation. I dont know how much longer the show is up but a couple a millards, sieben, catlow, and kadel to name a few in this show, was definetly worth catching it regardless. check out more on Kadel at www.melkadel.com/ and the gallery at www.thelab101.com/
Kiel Johnson
Just returned home from a fun trip out to LA for the week. Saw a lot of great art and a lot of shit art as well. but i ll focus on the good stuff. any how great people and great fun in the sun. One of the great finds (my opinion) was this guy kiel johnson. stuff is very fun and love the line quality. kinda fell into the gallery by accident and was quite impressed with the work that was being shown. I heard that the gallery is a lil hit and miss but if you are in the hermosa beach area check it out and be sure to ask to see this guys drawings. www.galleryc.com/ and www.kieljohnson.com/ oh and his sculptures are uber rad as well.
