Sq. Foot - Thinkspace Gallery - November 10th

GALLERY HOURS:
Thurs - Sun 1pm - 6pm
Other times by appointment

GALLERY ADDRESS:
4210 Santa Monica Blvd.
(near Sunset Junction)
Los Angeles, CA 90029

Telephone: 323.913.3375

Show Overview:

For Square Foot, Blaine will be doing a site-specific installation in our front room, along with displaying a small selection of new works. The front room is going to be covered from floor to ceiling with old pieces of wood that Blaine has been foraging about for during the past couple of months. Varying in depth and several layers thick in places, nestled in amongst the massive wood installation will be new works from Blaine on display for the first time. For our main gallery space, Blaine has brought together a group of over 50 artists, ranging the entire spectrum of the current movement. From graffiti and fine art to illustration and design, all facets of the movement are on display. They have all created works on 12” x 12” wood panels that Blaine built and provided to them. The works in the group show will be exhibited in a random grid pattern, and all will be tied together by graphic flourishes that Blaine will be adding to the main gallery space.

Potluck - Pr1mary Space - Detroit - Nov 4th.

www.pr1maryspace.com

Primary Space is proud to present its 2nd annual Detroit artists show, Potluck II. Welcoming over 25 local artists, both emerging and established, Potluck II features the creative work of the Detroit region - on TWO fronts. Art. And cuisine! Potluck II opens with an opening reception for the artists on Saturday, November 4, from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM. The show (art only) continues through Saturday, November 25, with gallery hours on Wednesday night from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM (except Wed., November 22), and by appointment. Call 313.657.3579 or 313.401.6451 to schedule an appointment.

So what is this art AND food business you ask? On opening night, in addition to the artists' exhibitions of work, we've asked each of them to provide a home-cooked item for the catering table. We can promise you, the food is nearly as spectacular as the artwork. Delicious and hearty, sweet and sour, healthy and decadent, it's a night not to miss. Potluck II will feature the art and cuisine of:

7teen, Nina Asunto, Jessica Brown, Mary Bush, Dave Chung, Faun Donald, Serge Gay Jr., Mark Heggie, Rachel Holland, Erin Hookana, Marcia Hovland, Amy Johnson, Jason Keenan, Ryan Lee, SooMee Lee, Christine Lujan, Nathan Marcy, Carl Oxley III, Anne Reinhardt, Chris Reno, Lisa Rigstad, Jason Ruff, Bethany Shorb, Steve Sholtes, Stephanie Skuzenski, Daniel Stewart, Kyle M. Stone, and Britten Stringwell.

We're thrilled to welcome these artists and invite you to join us for this fantastic event to celebrate the wealth of creativity in our art community. And get your snack on while doing it. It's a win-win situation people! Once again, Potluck II opens Saturday, November 4 and continues through November 25, with an opening reception for the artists on Saturday, November 4 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM.

I had the fortunate experience of meeting attaboy back in (i think) 95 (possibly late as 98) when i was still attending university through a brilliant and bizarre math calculating mutual friend named Steve. At that time i purchased a coloring book of his that i still cherish and find greatly amuzing. He has since gone on to do some very cool stuff such as developing the magizine high fructose. check out his site at www.yumfactory.com

Since she has been getting huge in the scene i have found it funny how many ways i am in a one degree seperation from her from friends of hers from the CIA days and also through colombia. It s been fun hearing stories about her life from friends that no her. Her work is definetly something you should take a look at.
